Get to Know Me/ Purpose of my Blog

Hello everybody, I'm Moon. I have often been told that Homeschoolers are introverts and avoid social interaction. While that may be true for some, it is not for all. Most of the other Homeschoolers I have met are extremely social. And, this is the best part, it's all our own choice. In public school you are pretty much forced to be with people you may or may not like. I'm sure by now some of you are thinking, "What does Moon know, she's homeschooled." That is not entirely true. I was in public school from kindergarten to second grade, then I was homeschooled until sixth grade, when I went back to public school. I remained in public school through seventh grade and was once again homeschooled and have been to this day. I'm going to say now I don't have anything against Public schoolers(unless they're rude). In fact quite a few friends of mine are in public school.  The main issue for me is being stereotyped as anti-social because I'm not in public school. Believe it or not there are plenty of activities for Homeschoolers. One example are Co-ops. Co-ops are everywhere.  A Co-op is when a group of Homeschoolers meet together and the parents volunteer to teach classes. At our Co-op the classes I take are: Chemistry, Budget and Finance, Home Economics, and Creative Writing(which I teach). The classes listed are only the ones I take, there are countless others. Another example of a homeschool activity is our band program. I play trumpet, baritone, violin, piano, and I'm in choir. My younger brother, who will be referred to as Thomas, plays baritone, guitar, piano, and is in the same choir class as me. My youngest brother, who'll be know as Steve, plays flutophone(which is a fancy name for recorder), guitar, and is in the younger choir class. My little sister, who has requested to be called Rose, plays flutophone, a little bit of violin, and is in the same choir class as Steve. One of the most amazing parts of our music program is the fact that there are more classes to take(harp, cello, banjo, chamber, etc.).  There are also other things Homeschoolers can do. I've seen drama clubs, book clubs, and dances(including a homeschool prom!).

I'm sure most of you have figured out that one of the main purposes of my blog is to defend Homeschoolers from stereotypes, however it is not my only reason for this blog. One of the things I'm constantly asked by homeschool parents is for book suggestions/ reviews. So I will use my extensive reading to my advantage and post book reviews for you guys. I'm also going to use this to share experiences from my life.

In addition to being homeschooled, I am Christian who believes in Jesus with all my heart. I love to read. To me dragons are the BEST thing in the world! I like to watch Doctor who and I work at our local library. One of my favorite things to do is help with our church's AWANA(Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed) program. I teach a few classes: Creative Writing, Fourth Grade book time for AWANA, and a class on how to do TDRs(Transform Discipleship Resource). I'm also currently working with a group of kids at our church to put together a Mothers Day program. Another fun thing I like to do is sing for our church. On Saturday my siblings and I are preforming for our Upward Basketball/ Cheerleading celebration. Which reminds me coaching Upward cheerleading is something else I enjoy doing.

I'm going to tell you all a little about my family.  I have two brothers and one sister. We have a dog named Maggie. We live with my Mom. I have two best friends who will be referred to as Greek Geek(her choice, not mine) and Greenbean(my nickname for her). Thomas is only a little bit younger than me. He loves logos (his favorite is the THX logo), loves to watch Thomas the Tank Engine, and enjoys watching movies. Steve is my youngest brother, his favorite thing is video games(which he inherited from me). He particularly likes the Mario franchise,  Sonic the Hedgehog games, Legend of Zelda, Pokémon, and Minecraft. Rose is the youngest in the family. She likes My Little Pony, Girl Meets World, books(she has learned well), and baby dolls. Her favorite baby doll is Ruby and she's had her since she was little. My Mom loves us kids more than anything(except God of course). She loves the color red and, no offense to any moms reading this, but, she is the best Mom ever!

I'm really excited to be sharing this blog with all you wonderful people. I want you all to know that this blog isn't just for Homeschoolers or kids or adults. It's for everyone who can benefit from it. I really want to give all of you reading my blog a big thank you!

If anyone wants me to talk about any specific thing feel free to ask in the comments!😜
  Until next time,

  1. I forgot to mention that I will also post stories I write on here. I also want to specify that I created the characters (crazy Bob and Asparagus) but I have friends who are trying to publish fanfiction as canon. Another thing I want to be clear on is I will also be posting my own fanfictions on my favorite books, movies, etc. Before each story I will specify whether it's my own story or a fanfic.

Wings of Fire sereis by Tui T. Sutherland

Hey everyone! Moon here and in my first post I told you I was going to do book reviews. It is time for me to deliver with my first book review. The Wings of Fire series actually became my favorite book series after I read the first two books, The Dragonet Prophecy and The Lost Heir. My name actually came from one of her later books, Moon Rising. Moon and I are basically the same person      These books are fantastic for parents who don't want their kids reading anything with curse words or words like crap. Sutherland is really good about keeping her writing clean and enjoyable for all ages. One of her strong traits is the ability to write realistic characters, even though they're dragons.      I recommend these books to a lot of people. My friend Greek Geek became addicted to this series when I introduced her to it. However there is some violence when the dragons fight. To me there is honestly nothing wr...

I'm the Clumsiest Person in the World

Hey everybody, Moon here, feeling like the clumsiest person ever. I barely have to do anything and I'm lying on the ground in pain. I bet you are all wondering what I could have done to feel this way. It is seriously the most random thing.      About a week ago I was riding my bike at the park. I really can't explain how much I enjoy going fast. But being the goof I am, I was going as fast as I could under the pavilion, weaving around tables. This is something I have done countless times. Unfortunately, the concrete under the pavilions is incredibly slick. Next thing I know I'm in the air. Luckily for me, I've fallen off my bike enough times to learn how to roll with the fall to avoid hurting myself. I shakily get up from my fall and look over at my poor bike. The Handlebars are facing forward, but the wheel is facing to the right. Of course I'm upset that my beautiful bike is dented, so I take it over to Mom to have her take a lo...
